One of the nation’s largest online charters ECOT will shut down midyear affecting about 12 000 Ohio students. The sponsor suspended oversight as ECOT runs out of money amid a legal dispute with the state.
TheLorain Demolition Board of Appeals gave 1620 Ohio Ave owners five days for official inspection and 30 days to meet with the board for a detailed restoration plan. Housing inspectors and city departments noted widespread water damage mold and infestation across 16 properties slated for demolition, with owners facing large back taxes. If repairs prove too costly the tbd for demolition shifts to the Lorain County Land Reutilization Corp.
Lorain County property owners will receive bills this week reflecting mostly unchanged values for most properties. Some districts show higher rates due to new or renewed levies, while North Ridgeville sees a notable decline.
North Ridgeville State Senator Gayle Manning announces a run as a Republican for the 55th House District in the May primary. She has eight of nine years in the Senate and is term limited, aiming to succeed her son Nathan Manning who has held the district since 2015. Nathan plans to run for Gayle’s Senate seat.
