Reflections on the Negro in America by Eric Hoffer
Eric Hoffer argues the Negro's plight stems from internalized white prejudice and the need for a self-sustaining community. He criticizes reliance on others for freedom and questions the capacity of American Blacks to build durable mutual aid, urging self-starting efforts and genuine leadership. The piece juxtaposes his views with Baldwin and notes on social dynamics in the ghettos and among the educated class.
