Infant dies after traffic crash in Elyria
An 18 month old boy, Mark Hugo of Elyria, died at 1:20 a.m. after a Gulf Road and Kennedy Memorial Parkway collision with a Elyria Concrete Inc. truck. His parents, including 25 year old Lloyd Hugo, remain in hospital with injuries. Leonard Paynowski, driver of the truck, was uninjured. Elyria Guard Unit to Join Non Divisional Outfit
Elyria National Guard units will move to join a Cleveland based Special Reserve Forces unit following the planned merger of First Battalion 135th Artillery with the 107th Armored Cavalry. By March 31 drills shift to Lakewood as HQ and batteries form two new howitzer batteries under the 107th. Each battery will have about 100 personnel with potential two weekend drills monthly for the 43 officers and men remaining.
