Soldier Guilty of Cruelty in Iraq Case
A Kuwait-based military panel convicted Staff Sgt. Enoch Chatman of cruelty and maltreatment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The ruling, in a case tied to the August death of Pvt. Keiffer Wilhelm from Willard, Ohio, found Chatman guilty of two cruelty violations alongside three fellow soldiers. The military said Wilhelm’s death followed ten days in Iraq, but no direct link to the mistreatment was established.
