Deaths of 240 hogs baffle experts at farm

At a farm near New Douglas Illinois 240 hogs died in a containment building housing 600 animals. The deaths occurred in eight pens with groups of 30 in each, scattered throughout the building. An employee found the carcasses on Monday and veterinarians ruled out poisoning though ventilation failure was initially considered. The remaining hogs appeared healthy with about 600 total head in the facility.
