Pioneering Sesame Street turns 30 in Orange County
In 1969 Harvard education expert Gerald Lesser helped found the Children's Television Workshop to produce Sesame Street. The program aimed to entertain and educate preschoolers, teaching language skills, numbers, reasoning, and problem solving, especially for children from poor families, in a full hour format challenging typical 30 minute shows.
