A clerk at Cerlan's Carryout 182 N Main St New London was robbed of about 130 dollars Monday night. Valerie Cerlan 21 fought back by throwing a bottle. The robber fled in a large white car with only a partial license plate. She was taken to hospital. a broad search by county deputies was called off after about one hour with no suspect found.

Averbook Furniture on East Avenue closes citing downtown traffic as the reason. Owner Myron Averbook says the store sold appliances and carpeting and will auction remaining inventory at 11 a.m. Thursday. He bought the business in 1975 and has 39 years with the store.
The Supreme Court heard four lawyers argue over a FCC rule banning future cross ownership of newspapers and broadcast stations in the same market. The case could extend to 150 existing cross holdings in 44 states unless shown to serve the public interest, stressing the free flow of information from diverse sources.
Ford Motor Co says its Ohio payroll in 1977 totaled more than 947 million, a record high, as average gross hourly earnings rose to 9.18 and average weekly pay to 403.13. The company also reported a new employment peak of 42,196 in Ohio, up from 1976 and the 1973 record. Payroll by plant figures show Cleveland-area plants over 390 million, Lorain Avon Lake 210 million, Cincinnati plants 146 million, Lima 87 million, Sandusky 50 million, Canton 39 million, and Maumee 21 million.
A $1 million suit by Huron County base operator Ronald Zoellner against the Airport Authority is postponed one week due to bad weather. Judge Rob ert J Vet ter granted the delay. Assistant County Prosecutor Jack Fynes said a special Airport Authority meeting is set for Wednesday to discuss possible settlement, with both sides open to negotiations. The case tests whether the Authority has the power to terminate Zoellner’s lease after voting to cancel it in spring 1976.
