Safety forces Lorain resume contract talks
Lorain negotiators for the city's safety forces and the council resumed talks last night with little headway. Both sides presented counter proposals and police Sgt. Wilfredo Castro called the council's proposal unacceptable. The old contract remains in force while talks continue, and consideration is being given to splitting police and fire negotiations to speed progress. The FOP will vote on the split, citing department-specific needs as a reason. Details of negotiated items are being withheld by mutual agreement.
