Humphrey remembered as "Happy Warrior" in 1960s campaign tours

Lorain County residents recalled Hubert Humphrey's 1968 whistle stop through Lorain with a 4000 strong rally at Admiral King High School. J Grant Keys praised him as the wisest man in Washington while others recounted his courage and long public service. Humphrey later died of cancer at 66 in Waverly Minnesota, leaving a legacy in civil rights, Vietnam policy, and the Humphrey Hawkins full employment bill.

Snowstorm Adds Inches Across Ohio Heights

Up to three more inches of snow and strong winds loom as a winter storm lingers over Ohio. Flurries cover most of the state with five inches reported in Toledo and one to two more in Lorain County. Drivers face slick roads, drifting, and closures while road crews and police warn to slow down.

Skidding cruiser strikes parked car in Elyria

Elyria police officer David Gill skidded on icy Middle Avenue near Second and Third streets while en route to an emergency call at 124 Middle Ave. The cruiser struck a parked car but Gill was uninjured. The incident occurred as he passed a line of northbound traffic.

Weather Update Calls for More Snow Across Region

A travelers advisory remains in effect with snow squalls and blowing and drifting snow today tonight and Sunday. Expect one to three inches of new snow by evening, highs 25 to 30, tonight's lows in the teens, colder Sunday with highs in the teens. Near 100 percent chance of precipitation through Sunday, north winds 20 to 30 mph.
