Cleveland Orchestra expands its MLK Day celebration
The Cleveland Orchestra expands its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Open House and Day of Music at Severance Music Center with four spaces in use and performances by the Youth Orchestra and Youth Chorus along with Linking Legacies Chamber Ensemble and other groups. Audience can move between Mandel Concert Hall Reinberger Chamber Hall and the grand foyer for interactive workshops and contemplative activities.

Cleveland Orchestra music director Welser-Most to retire in 2027
Janz Welser-Most will retire as Cleveland Orchestra music director in June 2027 after a 25 season tenure, the longest in the ensemble's history. The 63 year old canceled performances after a cancerous tumor was removed and will undergo treatment for 12 to 16 months. He has led the orchestra since 2002 and will exceed George Szell's record tenure.
