Co op Bookstore Workers Get Final Paychecks Aid Secured
In Oberlin the now closed Co op Bookstore paid out final wages after a community push. The Bill Long Foundation donated about 500 dollars and helped raise over 4000 dollars from private donors to cover 15 employees. The funds were distributed via the Oberlin Community Service Council. The bookstore faced closure after a 1998 inventory sale dispute with CUBPaC and a mortgage tied to a 1993 new store. The firm seeks a buyer or manager as responses for possible revival are due Friday, with Oberlin College named in a related lawsuit.
