Supreme Court to hear Silkwood case against Kerr-McGee
The Supreme Court will review reinstating parts of a 10 million punitive award to Karen Silkwood's family after a lower court voided it. The case centers on state punitive damages versus federal nuclear regulation over radiation safety. Silkwood, a Kerr McGee analyst contaminated before her death in 1974, was a union activist seeking disclosure of safety concerns.
