Former Ohio justice denies conflict in CEI case
Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice David Dowd Jr says no conflict of interest existed in a last year CEI decision though his brother worked for Squire Sanders the firm representing the utility in a Lakewood substation matter. Dowd's brother John Dowd contributed to his campaign and other firm attorneys matched the gifts. John Dowd did not argue before the bench.

Bansek named Lorain Municipal Court clerk by party committeemen
Ian Bansek 42 of 14220 Marshall Ave was chosen on the fourth ballot by Democratic precinct committeemen from Lorain Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Township to fill the unexpired term of Municipal Court Clerk Frank Katrick who retired. He will run in November to complete the term through 1983. Bansek is a former Lorain City Council member and ex housing authority security supervisor. He is a 1959 Lorain High School graduate and a Vietnam era air force veteran. He and his wife Laurel have six children.
