Italians Seek Refuge In Germany
In Munich Bavaria on January 10 the UPI correspondent spoke with several Italian refugees who said about 2,000 Italians have fled to Germany since the Ethiopian war began. They claim anti Italian sentiment in South Tyrol and report police patrols by the Italian authorities. Emigrants allege forced conscription and executions, noting nine Tyroleans were executed in September for refusal to submit to military service.

The note hints Hauptmann’s innocence and a possible Lindbergh kidnapper tie, suggesting “money madness” was Hauptmann’s fault. A separate incident notes a 30-30 rifle firing from a back doorstep near a pasture.
