Uncertain I-480 delays risk North Olmsted projects
North Olmsted faces stalled multi million dollar plans as the I 480 completion drags on. A new 7 million Brookpark Road shopping center between May Co and Horizon West is delayed by the I 480 project and Rt 252 relocation. Stearns Bassett Road extension may also falter linking I 480 with I 90. Residents fear devalued property and pollution. State Sen Paul Matia doubts I 480 will ever be built, citing energy costs and revenue shortfalls. Mayors say relocation hopes exist but doubt it will occur. Bids soon planned for two controversial sections in Westlake, Rocky River, Lakewood and Cleveland.

Country star Waylon Jennings gets $140000 bus facelift
Lorain company GRM Inc. completed a luxurious Belgium bus interior for Waylon Jennings including a forward lounge with recording gear a midsection sleeping area for seven and a private suite with television and extra recording units. The six month project cost about 140000 and the bus will be used as transport and mobile studio with a Las Vegas destination.

Bay council approves bond for city service garage
Bay Village council advances a 900000 bond issue on the May ballot to finance a 12 million service garage on Naigle Road near the Westlake Bay boundary. Mayor Reese expects about 15 per home annually for 10 years. Critics oppose the plan citing waste and prefer sewer improvements.

Ambulance meeting rescheduled for January 22

Dr. Roy M. Berka named president of the Elyria Board of Education with Dr. Ben V. Myers as vice president after the board’s organizational meeting. Myers sworn in for a fourth term.
