Raise Old strike ends at Norwalk printing plant
Workers at Rotary Printing Co Norwalk returned to their jobs after ratifying a three year contract by a 23 to 3 vote. The agreement includes a 27 cent hourly raise in 1974, a 9 cent cost of living increase quarterly, and 5 percent yearly raises in 1975 and 1976, plus 12 cent max COLA for 1975-76, a faster grievance process, one extra holiday in 1975 76, pay for four missed holidays, and 100 hours vacation credit for strikers. Union secretary Pat Guinn noted the 100 hour credit was a major point of contention and that management had resisted paying a 6 cent 1973 COL to June 1974. The strike prompted closer unity among members and production should resume.

Corts Pushes Bill to Update Obscenity Laws in Ohio
Ohio Senator Robert J Corts introduced a bill to align state obscenity laws with a Supreme Court decision and empower local authorities to curb pornography in bookstores and theaters. The measure allows community standards to judge obscenity, enables injunctions by city and county prosecutors, and holds sellers and managers responsible for material they handle or advertise. He cites smut peddlers profiting from explicit material.

Pease slams PUCO budget cuts and rate hikes impact
Ohio state representative Donald J. Pease argues in a weekly newsletter that trimming $1 million from the Public Utilities Commission budget left the agency understaffed and unable to properly review proposed rate increases. He warns higher utility rates borne by 11 million Ohioans result from delayed approvals and weak scrutiny, noting processing times of 16 months or more. The commentary stresses inefficiency and rising costs for consumers amid regulatory budget reductions.
