Nineteen Prisoners Break From Jail
Nineteen prisoners battered their way to freedom from the Fayette County Jail in Fayetteville West Virginia. Fifty others refused to leave after an escape route was opened. no man was recaptured soon after. Sheriff Conley issued notices to surrounding counties as officers hunted for the escapees. Fatal Auto Crash Claims Two in Lorain County
Two deaths are reported from Lorain County auto accidents last night. Burr C. Brooks 89 of 211 Blaine Street died at Memorial Hospital from a crushed chest after stepping in front of a car driven by Ethel Gillis 125 Columbus Street at Middle Avenue and Fourth Street. Gillis was absolved of blame after investigation. Max Steinberg 22 of Columbus died at St Josephs Hospital Lorain from injuries after his car collided with a machine driven by H D Hayes of Alliance Ohio near Oberlin Avenue and 1st Street yesterday evening. Coroner T A Peebles announced Hayes was exonerated. Brooks was born December 18 1851 in Vermilion and leaves two daughters Mrs Robert Balmer and Mrs Bruce Spaulding and three sons Alvin Donald and Lewis. Funeral Saturday at 1 pm Taylor Funeral Home with Rev W C Towler officiating and burial at Maple Grove Cemetery Argyle Ohio.
