Train Kills Man Trying To Save Auto
Hiram Ormsby 54 of Amherst died at Dewey Road crossing when his car stopped on the tracks and wheels locked between rails. Paul Mischka 72, also of Amherst, was near the car and suffered a possible knee fracture as fragments struck. Ormsby reportedly ran toward an oncoming westbound passenger train in an apparent bid to flag it down. Ormsby’s body was cut in two. Mischka was hospitalized in good condition. Ormsby worked for A J Suward Rooting and Tang Co. Lorain. Surviving are two sisters and a brother, all of Amherst. Funeral services set for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Garland Funeral Home with Rev. Emerson E. Emke officiating. Burial in Crownhill Cemetery.
