Schultz, an assistant prosecutor since 1972, was chosen by O'Connor and County Executive Tun Davis. He plans no political moves or staff changes and will not join the selection process. He handles township, charter, and elections board matters. Schultz earned a Akron University law degree while working at a tire factory and previously ran a private firm in personal injury and bankruptcy.

Ohio approves farmland preservation law signed by governor

Gov. Nancy Hollister signed a law allowing counties to pay farmers to lock land into agricultural use. The program, starting in 90 days, would compensate the difference between development and agricultural values, with funding to come from local taxes or bonds. Potential federal or private funding could help, and donations of development rights may offer tax breaks.
