The first heavy snowfall of 1972 blankets Elyria and Lorain County with thick white cover. Officials warn of travel hazards as conditions persist with flurries near Lake Erie and bitter cold expected to follow.
North Ridgeville school board approves an eight month paid leave for Assistant Superintendent Anthony V. Rago at 7900 to pursue a doctorate at the University of Akron. The leave runs today to August 31 with Rago to perform no duties during the period. The vote was 4 to 1 with Jeanne Shulteaberger voting no and new members Halagan and Taylor influencing the outcome.
Democrats named chairmen of all five Elyria City Council committees as John V Bara was elected council president and Richard P Seward as president pro tem. Republicans protested the move, saying they were not consulted nor allowed to choose committee assignments.
