Costly OSU computer overhaul overshoots estimates
The Ohio State University business computer system overhaul by PeopleSoft has cost far more and taken longer than planned. Initial projections, including a 52.5 million price tag and under three years to complete, were surpassed as total expenditures climbed to 106.8 million. OSU faced severe payroll glitches during the rollout, with late checks and a million-dollar cash mishap prompting cash deliveries for payroll viability.

Experts credit a stronger economy and community policing, harsher sentencing, and less crack cocaine sales, with city officials highlighting faster police response and greater contact with residents as factors.
