Delaware couple abandon sick son at hospital shocks neighbors
Richard Kelso, 62, and Dawn Kelso, 45, left their cerebral palsy patient son Steven at Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children with boxes of belongings and a note claiming they could no longer care for him. They turned themselves in, were released on bond, and face two counts each of abandonment and conspiracy. Public reaction split between condemnation and sympathy, while officials assess care options for Steven.
