Weeds Winning Out In War With Man Says Expert
Washington experts say weeds are spreading faster than they can be destroyed. Amarillo Tex seed collector William B Mercer warns farmers neglect seed testing and seed handling, leading to weed infestations that outpace control and raise costs on reclamation projects. He demonstrates seed mixing to show difficulty in distinguishing crop from weed seeds. He notes careless weed control costs may exceed O&M and construction, and cites a burdock incident spreading through a farm community.

60th Anniversary Is Observed By Couple
Ninety relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Avery Wilcox on Sunday afternoon December 29 to congratulate them on their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mrs. Wilcox wore a dark grey satin dress with two red rose buds, aided by their sons Albert and Arthur. Festive Christmas decor and a lit tree filled the living room as flowers from Charles Noble and wife graced the dining table. A poinsettia plant from nieces Miss Elizabeth and Josephine Wilcox centered the registration area, with Julius Wilcox overseeing the coffee urn and many Wilcox family members assisting in refreshments. John Wilcox kept the guest book, last inscribed ten years ago by ninety three attendees. Charles Noble Jr. photographed the event.
