Two 11 year old Elyria boys, Gerald Kordeleski and William Flood, died after falling into an old well on a farm in Penfield township. Their bodies were recovered by Wellington fire department after footprints led to the well. Funeral services will be held at St. Marys church.

A New Year weekend toll in Ohio claims at least 21 lives with road crashes and a rail accident. Among those killed are two Columbus children burned in a house fire and two Elyria youths drowned in a farm well. New London Man Killed at Railroad Crossing
John N. Shafer 65 of Prospect street was killed at the North Main street crossing of the New York Central railroad around 4 10 PM Saturday. The coroner cited skull fracture as the cause. Shafer, a carpenter at Biglow Brick and Tile Co and home alone, was struck after crossing in front of a train and then hit by a backing switch engine. He died on the road bed near the collision site. Surviving: wife, daughter Mrs. Kenneth Watkins of Cleveland, sons Lawrence of New London and Joseph in the Marine Corps, five grandchildren, sisters Mrs. Mary Murr and Mrs. Fanny Burley, brothers Delbert and Walter. Services held in New London with Rev. G In Kettenring officiating. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery.

Youth Killed at Wellington Crossing in Tragedy
Ard Voss a Brighton High School senior and basketball player, 19, died when his car collided with a westbound New York Central train at Barker street crossing around 2 30 p m. The funeral was held at Brighton Methodist church with pallbearers from the school. He had lived with Clyde Lee family in New London R F D 3 for 16 years.

Barn Fire Destroys Grainery Shed and Animals

Coroner Rules Death of Lorain Man Due to Natural Causes
Coroner Paul F. Tillman ruled that 52 year old Thomas Holmes of 329 Broadway Lorain died of natural causes. Holmes was found dead Sunday in a house on Lake Breeze road in Sheffield Lake where he had gone for the weekend and authorities estimate he died Friday. His body was taken to Walter Fry Funeral Home in Lorain.
