Nervous System as a Health Priority in Literary Metaphor

The piece discusses how nervousness and mental strain, as illustrated by a writer's phrase describing a friend, highlight the need to understand the nervous system. It links literary references, notably Macbeth, to real neurological diseases such as neuritis and neuralgias, stressing awareness of nerve tissue, centers, and sheaths for health.

Are Witches Nervous A Look At Nervousness And Neuroses

It cites a young man placed in responsibility as a case of jitters, urging sympathy and avoidance of sensational labeling. It concludes most so called nervous wrecks are neuroses from irritable circumstances, not disease.

Restless Worried Patients Seek Multiple Medical Advisers

A famed neurologist notes that three quarters of people seeking physicians are nervous cases. They pursue two or more advisers, risking quacks and gadget peddlers who offer only temporary relief. Psychological rather than medical relief is often required as studies show nerve wreckage rarely stems from actual manual overwork. Vocational therapy and hands-on routine work can sometimes salvage an unruly nervous system.
