Smiling stewardess helps calm Aeroflot crew in midair scare

Moscow reports a four engine Aeroflot plane with two engines out and one wheel stuck. Svetlana the stewardess kept smiling saying all is fine while the plane landed on one wheel. The ship shed a wing and runway damage followed but all escaped unharmed according to Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Battle for Hill 31 intensifies in Laos and nearby bases

Fierce fighting raged around Hill 31 and two other South Vietnamese bases along the Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos with heavy clashes also reported in Cambodia. South Vietnamese paratroopers aided by U.S. helicopter gunships reportedly recaptured half the hill while U.S. bombers knocked out five enemy tanks.

Airmens Safe After Harrowing Laos Rescue Near DaNang

U S Air Force pilots Capt David R Hedditch and 1st Lt Thomas H McLaughlin were shot down near Hill 31 in Laos and spent about 22 hours in jungle before a helicopter recovered them at DaNang South Vietnam airbase. The men, ages 28 and 24, hailed their rescue with fellow Americans after the tense ordeal.

Lawmen target ten secret Lorain indictments in drug raid case

Lorain County deputies pressed a night manhunt for ten people named in secret indictments by the Lorain County Grand Jury. Eight were arrested. six linked to the Pandora's Box drug raid. New arrests include Charles L. Perkins and Mrs. Cleo Hoskins, with charges ranging from possession of hallucinogens to shooting with intent to kill.

High winds create electric wire damage and blue flashes
