Prominent Lorainite Gertrude Ashbolt Dies At 63
Lorain widow and longtime public health leader Gertrude Ashbolt died at St Joseph Hospital after a year of illness. A WWI nurse and Ohio’s 28th registered nurse, she directed Lorain Welfare for about 20 years and led local Humane Society and Red Cross efforts. Survived by two sons, two daughters, and several relatives. Death notice and funeral arrangements incomplete.
