Lorain Council Advances 2024 Budget Projections
Lorain City Council hearings project about 38.3 million in general fund revenue for 2024 led by 25 million from income taxes and fees. A 0.25 percent renewal generates about 3 million yearly for streets and police, with a fire levy about 1.5 million. An $8 million 2023 carryover funded by ARPA, CARES, and refunds cushions the balance. $5 million is expected to be spent against cash balances this year. Council aims to pass a permanent budget by end of March.
