Elyria downtown stores will open Friday evenings and close at 5 30 Saturday afternoon after a chamber of commerce poll. A meeting Thursday at 9 in Chamber offices will set the exact move date and public notices. The poll showed 70 9 percent favored Friday hours, needing two thirds for changeover, lasting at least one year.

Two Hurt In Crash At Durkee And Route 82 Intersection
Two drivers were treated at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a two car collision at Durkee Road and Route 82. Cause cited as failure to stop at a main intersection. John Coates 34 Coates Flying Service driver and passenger Adilla Scholl 58 suffered contusions and lacerations. Coates admitted for observation. Herman Scholl 53 said he did not see the other car. Spare Time Burglary Career Says It Was a Hobby
Detroit police say Leslie C. Potter a 40 year old Hudson Motor Car Company personnel clerk admitted a seven year spare time burglary career yielding about $95 000. He confessed stealing valuables and cash from homes since 1943 describing the loot as a hobby and telling police he gave it all to his friends. A detective called him a Jekyll and Hyde figure noting similarities to unsolved burglaries possibly tied to a highly organized gang.

Carl W. Kinney sr. of Oberlin founder of the Oberlin Tribune later the Oberlin News-Tribune, died at 6:45 am at home after a second stroke. Born 1876 in West Park, he helped start the paper in 1896 with siblings and partners. Survived by two daughters Mrs. E. A. Chase and Mrs. E. W. Lampson, and son Carl Jr., with a sister in California.
