Jasper killer John King sentenced to death over Byrd murder

Indictment hits IGAs owners in racketeering case

Michael and Debra Bush, owners of Lorain IGA and Huron IGA, were secretly indicted on eight counts each of filing fraudulent sales tax returns and collecting and failing to pay sales tax. They face 18 counts including engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and aggravated grand theft. The Avon Lake couple, both in their forties, allegedly did not remit $176,002 in state sales taxes.

Akron teens indicted under new gang law

Akron investigators say two 18 year old teens Torrey Swain and Jason Cottrell along with a 16 year old boy lured two youths into a car and held them at gunpoint marking the first use of Ohio's new gang law in Summit County.

Electroalloys to close Elyria plant amid layoffs

Electroalloys Corp will shutter its Taylor Street foundry in late April and lay off most of its 108 local workers. West Homestead Engineering and Machine Co president William Cook Jr says deteriorating oil and steel markets ruined the Elyria castings site and reopening is unlikely. The firm supplies heat resistant castings to petrochemical and steel industries as oil prices stay low and demand weakens.
