Ford spends $50 million restyling Econoline van
Ford Motor Company describes the 1969 Econoline restyle built at Lorain as costing over 50 million, exceeding Mustang development. Extensive plant changes included two large press welding systems and a 40,500 square foot addition to accommodate the bigger van, with about 100,000 man hours spent on line overhaul and automation to produce up to 45 frames per hour.
