Ohio River ice gorge breaks. 100 families evacuated
A 67 mile ice gorge on the Ohio River fractured between Newburg Indiana and Uniontown Kentucky, creating gorges at Henderson Evansville bridges and two miles above Uniontown. About 100 families in Union township Vanderburgh county were evacuated with additional preparations in surrounding counties as flood threats eased after breakup.

Mrs. William Graves Sharp, 66, widow of the wartime U S ambassador to France, died at 3 p m at her home 801 Washington Avenue after a long illness. Funeral at 3 30 p m Tuesday at the home with Rev. William Muir Auld officiating. Burial in Ridgelawn Mausoleum. She organized war relief, led Red Cross efforts in France, and was honored by France and Belgium for her services. Survived by five children, born Hallie Clough, Amherst. Mr. Sharp died in 1922.
