Liver transplants saw risk averse centers delay sickest patients
Penn and Kansas researchers analyzed 23 700 liver offers and found first ranked patients were accepted only 37 4 percent of the time with centers ranging from 15 7 to 58 1 percent. Many passed over candidates died waiting for another chance.
