Ridge Tool workers meet UAW organizers over pay cuts
UAW organizers and Ridge Tool Co workers held a Sunday meeting at the UAW Union Hall after pay cuts that lowered differential pay from 54 to 35 cents per hour and third shift from 1.08 to 45 cents. About 70 workers attended the Feb. 9 impromptu session, and organizers distributed literature as union efforts continue with no future meeting dates set. The United Steelworkers Union has also shown interest in organizing the plant at 400 Clark St. in Elyria.

EPA probes second Huron County oil spill near Norwalk
Ohio EPA investigators probe a second diesel spill in Huron County in under two weeks. A bulk tank leak from Petroleum Distributors Co on Route 601 near Norwalk sent fuel into Rattlesnake Creek. Cleanup crews and county offices coordinate response after about 20,000 gallons entered the Huron River, with 170,000 gallons lost from a Buckeye Pipe Line Co rupture upstream, most diverted to storage and pumping.
