Dog tag of WWII hero found on Saipan surfaces memories
Dorothy Hollingsworth recalls her brother Pfc. Thomas E. Davis of Indiana who died in 1945. A discolored Army dog tag bearing his name, serial number and hometown was found in a Saipan farm field by historian Genevieve Cabrera and handed to Kuentai. The tag may help the Davis family connect with remaining relatives. Davis earned the Silver Star on Saipan in 1944 for rescuing a wounded comrade amid heavy fire.
