Toth faces decision after WV indictment and school inquiry
The superintendent would not reveal options but said Toth must choose one. The Chronicle-Telegram reported in 1988 that Toth was indicted in Upshur County WV for grand larceny and embezzlement over $600 in advance trip funds from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He coached basketball there until 1982 and taught at Brookfield High School. He claims he did not know of the indictment and has said the firing stemmed from “philosophical differences.” The district weighs whether earlier reporting and their probe justify firing, while Toth seeks legal counsel.
