Several Hurt In Accidents In County
Several persons were injured, none seriously, in a number of automobile accidents reported to police and sheriff departments here during the weekend. Tony Udvardy, 24, of R. D. 2 Valyria, received a laceration on his forehead and other minor injuries about 5 p.m. Saturday when a car in which he was riding with Edward Cunningham, 47, of Lorain, collided with a car driven by L. A. DeLloyd, 26, of 235 Seventh street, Elyria, on Route 2 about one mile west of Eaton. Both cars went into the ditch after the collision. Joseph Kruszewski, 52, of 1366 West avenue, suffered minor injuries about 1:20 p.m. yesterday when he was struck by a car driven by John Reed of 1327 Lake avenue, as Kruszewski was crossing West avenue near 13th street. His injuries were treated at Elyria Memorial Hospital. DeForest Faulkner, 24, of R. I. 3 Grafton, suffered the loss of several teeth and other injuries about 6:40 p.m. Saturday when his car collided with a wagon on the highway about a half mile south of LaGrange. Charles Koerber, 56, of R. D. Grafton, who was driving a team of horses hitched to the wagon, suffered lacerations and other minor injuries, according to Deputies Steve Pollock and Davidson. Three Missing In Costly Kent Blaze
Kent fire crews from four cities and 100 volunteers fought a six hour blaze that wiped out a major block in Kent. The Getz block housed six businesses two apartments and the Knights of Pythias Lodge Hall. Three residents are unaccounted for and six people were rescued via ice ladders to the Kent Opera House. Bradley Road Home Struck By Lightning
A violent March weather event struck Dover and nearby areas as lightning caused a fire at Henry Ingraham’s home on Bradley road in Dover. Firefighters stopped the blaze, while wind damage toppled a double garage at the Mucie farm and damaged several houses and lines. A dramatic oak tree narrowly missed Mr and Mrs W A Thompson in Bay Village, leaving the couple with minor injuries. Roads were blocked by trees and high water as North Olmsted lost electric service for hours and outages affected nearby Olmsted Falls.

Longtime Elyria post office clerk retires after 24 years
Frank W. Wilford, a parcel post window veteran at the Elyria post office, retires after nearly 24 years of service. His official retirement takes effect on February 28, his sixty fifth birthday, with no extra pension days due since his birthday is on the month’s last day. He began as a substitute clerk on March 13, 1913, and became a regular clerk in September of that year, working under four postmasters and at the parcel post window since 1917.

Seven Year Old Edwin Jump Is Bullet Victim
Edwin Jump seven, son of Rev. Virgil C. Jump, was accidentally shot and killed by an eleven-year-old neighbor while playing near his home in Mayfield. The incident occurred as other children and two brothers aged 11 and 8, plus an 11-year-old, shot at cans with a rifle in a barn nearby. The victim had moved from Lorain County four years ago to serve at Mayfield Methodist Church. The hearing, held by village officials and Cuyahoga County authorities, continues.
