Head on crash injures five near Elyria
A head on collision at East Avenue and Sixth Street injured five people including an Elyria woman and three grandchildren. Shannon Walker 31 of Griswold Road suffered severe facial injuries and was hospitalized then listed stable. The Routan driver Carmen Tibayan 76 and her three grandchildren ages 12 9 and 6 were also treated and released. Police say Tibayan was northbound when the Malibu crossed left of center. Blood tests were sent to a lab and the investigation continues.

Fugitive rapist to be extradited after capture
Convicted child rapist Devante Gibbs fled Lorain County Justice Center on February 10 as a jury weighed charges of rape kidnapping felonious assault and child endangering. He was located Saturday at a cousin’s Long Beach California home and tried to run when confronted by U S marshals. The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office investigates how he reached California and who aided him. Deputy Greg Hudson received thanks for advancing the case.
