Koehring Plans March 1973 Lorain Phase-Out Move
Koehring moves administrative and manufacturing functions from Lorain Division to a new Chattanooga plant with about 400 of 1,000 Lorain jobs slated to end before March 1, 1973. The plan, approved by Koehring executive counsel, involves transferring office work and certain production tasks, with Chattanooga facility to open by July 1. Union leaders pressed for local job chances, but Koehring offered no preference and denied full Lorain shutdown.
