Ryun Calls for Open Category In Track Debates
In a Sports interview Jim Ryun, holder of three world middle distance records, argues for an open category to allow athletes to endorse products and earn a living while training. He explains amateur status norms, the need for balance between work and training, and how a sponsored life could sustain elite runners like himself. He notes the monotony and discipline of 15 mile daily runs and reflects on travel and personal growth from racing.
