Greenville scene reports a fatal hotel fire injuring several. three killed including Russell Hamby 25 Evelyn Smith 11 Hark Smith 13 and Mrs C O Smith mother of the dead. Firefighters battled flames as others escaped via windows.
Ridgeville reports the birth of triplets to Mr and Mrs Sterling Milla at Lakeside hospital Cleveland morning. All three babies are girls weighing 4 pounds 1 ounce, 4 pounds 12 ounces and 5 pounds 22 ounces. All appear strong and likely to live. The Mills are Elyria High graduates with Dorris Terrell as the bride. Grandpa Alfred Mills spreads the news by phone. The Mills family resides on Cleveland road.
Washington reports General L Andrews endorses a scientific survey to measure prohibition’s social effects. Hugry Townsend 26 of Martinaville, principal and South Amherst High School basketball coach, collapsed from heart failure minutes after South Amherst led Ridgeville 12 to 8 in a game at South Amherst. The contest ended early as doctors failed to revive him. school officials announced a weeklong closure and no team participation in regional tournaments. Townsend, a longtime coach and math biology teacher, had previously taught in Pickerington, and leaves behind his wife and parents. Funeral plans were incomplete.

On February 20 two armed bandits invaded Willem Smith's jewelry shop in Cleveland. They tied the proprietor, rifled rings and watches worth several thousand dollars, and fled. Smith's 15 year old daughter Mary summoned help while Earnest Kauffman fired five shots at the robbers as they escaped to their apartment building. Police lost track of the suspects.
Lorain man John Shumeay pleaded guilty before Justice S J George to illegal possession of liquor after earlier pleading not guilty and demanding trial.
