Winds lash Miami Beach injuring dozen in rush of damage

A mid morning storm ripped through a six block area along coastal Miami Beach injuring more than a dozen people. Two heart attack victims were among the injured as power lines cars and buildings were knocked down with $25 million in damage. Police cordoned off the area as debris and broken glass littered the scene.

Tourism slump hurts national economy in quiz page 11

County Port Authority Falls On November Ballot

Lorain County voters will decide on expanding the Lorain Port Authority to County-wide status with a 2 percent mill levy to fund operations. Commissioners Norman Thompson and Ludwig M Pincura announced plans to place the issue on the November election ballot, noting Lorain county electors would vote. Cong hits U S HQ in Saigon air base attack

Communist guerrillas launched a second heavy rocket and ground assault against Tan Son Nhut Airbase near Saigon. Ground fighting raged around Tan Thoi and a Saigon River bridge as Vietnamese troops with American helicopters engaged rocket sites. A U S soldier waiting at the airport was killed and 48 GIs wounded.

Fire kills seven Cox children in Cincinnati home

In Cincinnati seven children of Mr and Mrs Henry Cox died in a house fire at 725 am. The victims jumped from a second floor window to escape the blaze. Fire Chief Bert Lugannani suspects smoke inhalation as the cause.
