William Vik, Brown Lipe Chapin division of General Motors, earned a $1000 bond for a suggestion to eliminate a polishing step on the lamp opening of a bumper guard. Ken Atkinson of 914 Cleveland Street collided with a Murphy Co truck driven by Ted Gilder on West River Street near Louisiana Avenue at 9:50 am. John Mitchell of 117 Pine Street had the right side damaged after a truck driven by Harmon Pierce backed from a space on Second Street near West Avenues at 11:00 am. Clyde Baker of 1750 Grafton Road reported his car struck the left door of a parked car on 216 East Avenue when the operator opened the door. The parked car owner’s name was not reported.

New Contract With Republic To Be Explained
William McPhillips of the United Steel Workers announced two tomorrow meetings in Elyria for Republic Steel employees to explain the new contract. It covers the Steel and Tubes Division at 10 a.m. and Niles Steel Products division at 1 30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall. The agreement guarantees minimum pensions of 100 dollars monthly after 25 years, 1250 dollars paid up life insurance, a disability clause after 15 years, and hospital and surgical benefits, effective March 1.
