Two auto accidents occurred here over the weekend. John Holland of 321 Abbey Road and Edward Smith of Grafton collided at the Lodi Street and West Avenue intersection Sunday as Holland pulled away from the curb into Smith. Both cars were damaged, Smith's severely. A second minor collision on Fourth Street between J. L. Hardy of 148 Oak Street and R. H. Reinhardt of 316 Cornell Avenue caused only fender damage. A telegraph pole at West Street and Lake Avenue was broken by a passing machine, noted to the Cleveland Southwestern Company.

A night long search for a barge that strayed in stormy seas yielded a lifeboat with two frozen bodies. The tug Montrose, en route from Norfolk to New York with three barges, sent an SOS after the tow lines broke. Coast guard cutters and patrol boats from Cape May, Norfolk, and New York joined the chase. one lifeboat of the Merrill was later found abandoned and another lifeboat from the same ship may hold two more bodies.
