A Cincinnati Pick Pan Co plant fire trapped twenty-one people including seven girls and fourteen firefighters who were overcome by fumes from celluloid. Police Pension Rules Adopted to End Board Deadlock
A special pension board meeting in the council chamber adopted new police pension rules after deadlock since last June. Patrick’s plan sets 40 percent of salary at retirement for pre 1930 hires with 20 years, and 30 percent for new hires with 25 years, plus a 1 percent annual increase for up to 10 years beyond required service. The board voted back pensions for Capt. Fred Meyers and Emily Drage, widow of Officer Thomas Drage, with monthly amounts and back payments. Widows receive half of their husbands’ pension. The department follows State Industrial Commission rules for injured or killed in service. The old guards’ pension fund nears $35,000. city firemen may soon seek similar rules.
