Night of 100 Stars falls flat despite star power
In New York Radio City, the five hour Night of 100 Stars benefit for the Actors Fund raised about 1 million for a nursing facility in Englewood NJ but drew many empty seats and reports of tedium. Performers such as Liza Minnelli and George Burns stood out while others lagged. The event faced mechanical breaks and mixed reviews.

Show's beneficiaries recall old times from across river
ENGLEWOOD New Jersey residents of the Actor's Fund home for retired performers recall days past at a Radio City Music Hall gala. The event aimed to raise half of a 2 million dollar nursing home project on a 5 acre New Jersey site. Starvolunteers filled the sold out 5,000 seat show with tickets from 1 000 to 50. The home, run by Scotty and Robert MacRae, serves aging performers who can care for themselves. Local residents shared memories of vaudeville partners Smith and Dale, who once lived nearby. Smith died three months ago and Dale died years earlier and the two were mentioned as a close act in the tradition of theatre life.
