The Earl of Craven plans to travel on the first ship to Bermuda after slipping from New York to avoid immigration questioning regarding his affair with the Countess of Cathcart. A Department of Labor alert authorized his arrest by telegraph to immigration authorities.
Gerald Chapman the noted bandit must hang in Weathersfield prison Connecticut on March 8 following a U S circuit court of appeals ruling upholding Connecticut's authority after his appeal from a federal judge's denial of a writ of habeas corpus. He was convicted for the murder of James Kelly a New Britain police officer during a burglary on October 12 1934.
