Carter sees "positive signs" on Iran hostages

President Carter told reporters he has seen some positive signs toward ending the Iran hostage crisis but warned against premature optimism. He cited delicate UN talks and declined to discuss specific efforts, while criticizing Edward Kennedy for remarks he said harmed U.S. interests. Postponed I-480 link upsets Cleveland officials

The state indefinitely postponed the final I-480 link and other high priority road projects after a $20 million loss in gasoline tax funds. Brook Park Mayor Angelo Wedo called the move absolutely livid and warned it could back a $2.5 billion bond issue to be voted on June 3. The cancellations affect the three mile link from Ridge Road to Broadview Road and the Berea Freeway grade separation near Cleveland Hopkins Airport along with planned Rt. 252 relocation and noise barriers in North Olmsted.
