Elyria High quarterback Brian Balser and Lorain High halfback Rosie Jewells will sign national letters of intent to attend the University of Akron. Balser, a two year starter and 4.0 student, chose Akron over Navy Princeton Murray State and Kent State with coach Jim Dennison praising his leadership and potential. Jewells, a first team all Buckeye Conference defensive back, is projected to play early in Akron’s secondary while Balser also plans to play baseball for the Zips.
