Temperatures rose in Ohio today but snow and sleet kept the wintry blast lingering. The report notes mixed conditions with improving but unsettled skies across multiple counties as colder air clings to the region.

Grover L. Severs, longtime Elyria educator and attorney, died after a lengthy career in education and law. He taught at Elyria High School, served as principal from 1940 to 1948, earned a law degree from Ohio State in 1953, and opened a law office in Elyria. He was active in several fraternal and professional organizations. Survived by his wife Wilda L., a son and daughter, four grandchildren, and three brothers. Funeral services Wednesday at First Methodist Church with Masonic rites tomorrow at Harold Dicken Funeral Home.
A 57 year old brakeman C V Beiderman of Delphos was killed instantly in New London when his Akron Canton and Youngstown Railroad train rolled over him at a transfer junction. The cause of the mishap is not yet clear as authorities investigate. Dr C A Edel Huron County coroner and Police Chief Kenneth Brown lead inquiries into the accidental death.
B. F. Goodrich Co. hiked passenger gear and small truck tire prices by 25 percent with up to seven percent increases on industrial tires. The move, effective today, was expected to be matched by other rubber companies.
